The question that is addressed in this article was how did Gingrich do in his latest debate. Some problems that were addressed were that Michele Bachmann gets her facts wrong and she shouldn't be a candidate for the president spot, another problem was Ron Paul's non-aggressive position towards Iran. The result that can affect public policy from Ron Paul's non-aggressive approach is that most Republicans are for being aggressive towards Iran, so the only people he can count to vote for him based on that view are the anti-war supporters. Another conclusion that might affect public policy is the way people see Michele Bachmann, after her performance in the last debate, people might not see her as a good candidate to run against Obama in 2012.
New information that I learned from this article was that Bachmann wanted to shut down the Fannie Mac and Freddie Mac. I learned that Gingrich wants to abolish the courts of activists judges, while Romney and Paul object this idea. I learned that Ron Paul is basically the only republican that has a non-aggressive position toward Iran.
The position taken by the author I think is more towards Newt Gingrich's side than any other candidate. She is definitely not on Michele Bachmann's side, stating that "if you have to say you're a serious candidate, there's room for doubt." when Bachmann said that she was a serious candidate for president. The impact this article can have on the political arena today isn't a very big one. I think this article just briefing explains what happened in the debate. The debate can change people's views on certain candidates like Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry, and Rick Santorum who didn't have the best showing at their last debate and people might have some doubts about them. But it could give Gingrich a positive impact because he was under attack almost the whole debate, but he didn't back down and made a strong push and shined all through the second half of the debate.
